Maya turns 2!

Wow...where did the past two years go! Maya is two! Maya and I had a relaxing day on her birthday and went to a local park to take some pictures.

We had a small party for her on the next day and she loved her Elmo cake and all her presents. She had so much fun!

Her language and articulation have totally blossomed over the past month or so especially. I laugh at so many things she says....

"I love football" while watching a recent Patriots game... unless Dan has trained her behind my back this was completely unprovoked.

"I don't think so" with the sweetest little melody in her voice in a variety of contexts....example 1: "Daddy toot toot. I don't think so!" or "Elmo fall down. Elmo is okay? I don't think so!" I know where she gets this one....me!

"Hoo hoo haa haa. I a monkey." So funny...out of the blue."

She seems to change everyday....I need to blog more so I can remember all these details. Her brother or sister is soon to arrive. I just loves the way she hugs and kisses my belly and says, "hi baby." She cracks me up when out of the blue she points to my belly and says, "baby move" or "big belly."

September already!?!?

Wow! August flew by. We did have lots of fun down the Cape and finally got back to Block Island for the first time since Maya was born. We usually go to Block Island in September for our anniversary, but I knew traveling might not be on the agenda much longer. We had a great time! See links for pictures.We had some fun day trips to Davis Farmland and the Ecotarium with friends! We went to birthday parties and playdates! It was a busy month, but fun! Maya tried finger painting for the first time to make a creative gift for Grandpa's birthday. (aka "Rah Pa"). She loves to color and will ask anyone and everyone to draw Elmo one thousand times -big Elmos, little Elmos, baby Elmos! She is starting to talk up a storm. She loves to play hide and seek games and it too cute when she says, "you surpise me."

Maya has a style of her own and she loves accessories...boy are we in trouble when she starts dressing herself which isn't that far away. Just tonight she must have spent at least 5 minutes trying to connect a zipper before asking for help. Here are some of her self-designed accesorization (if that is a word).

July Fun!

July was a fun month! We took Maya to Water Wizz with great friends! She loved it as you can see. Didn't even care about wearing her huge lifejacket!

Maya and I have been having a blast just being at home. We even fingerpainted for the first time!

We had family visiting in town and had a blast at cookouts and even got to Mystic. Maya's first time there (well second if you count that the last time she was in my belly! I love the aquarium in Mystic. The Beluga whales are amazing. I do hate seeing animals in captivity, however the nature of this aquarium is for animals that can't live in the wild.

There were cute little tunnels for kids that Maya loved running through.

We even got to enjoy the seaport a little. Maya thought it was hysterical eating her lemon sorbet from a "baby poo" aka baby spoon.

July 4th

We headed down to the Cape for the 4th! We had fun with family as well as hung out at the beach. We saw some awesome fireworks and Maya had fun splashing in the waves in her jeans! The sunset was amazing from the beach, too.

Water fun! (June)

While Maya does like her new pool, she doesn't seem to like to immerse herself in cold water. She did love the sprinkler, but we will have to work on the cold water part.

Boy Crazy Already?

So, we had a play date with Sara and Will the other day. They definitely had fun judging from the laughter. Maya just wanted to give Will big hugs ("bi hu") and would tackle him to the ground and they just were running and laughing.

Funny things kids say and do!

Maya's love affair with hats and shoes continues....doesn't matter whose shoes and she can make anything be a hat...this one would work if she had to bunny ears. And yes she does this herself!

As if it isn't funny enough that she actually says, "ummmm" and "hmmm" with a pointer finger to her mouth.....I couldn't help but last when I first heard her say, All aboard," when watching Dinosaur Train. She adds and "ey" to many words which cracks me up because we are not an "ey" family (aka adding the "ey" sound to the end of words that don't end with it). We talk to Maya in a regular voice with regular words insted of baby talk. However, it is totally a normal speech pattern for kids to do and it is just too cute.

Funny other things she says right now:

Pees Mama/Dada = Please Mama/Dada
"Oh hi!"
"Happy?" = What happened?
"Bi Hu" = Big Hug
"La La Elmo Wor" = I want to watch Elmo's World"
"Mo Hummy" = More hummus
"pie appo" = pineapple
"pitzey" = pizza
"smoobu" = smoothie
"dogba" = dog
"papa" = puppy
Unko Do/Unko Mikey = Uncle Joe/Uncle Mike
The list goes on...so fun for me to watch what seems to be normal development so far.

Another cute thing this month is Maya and my enormous Belly. We talk about the baby and she says, "hi baby" and gives my belly hugs and kisses. I know she doesn't understand, but it is so cute.
